Our story · 2020 to 2026
In 2023 we did what the market started to value in 2026.
Legathum was born in January 2020 at Circuit Launch, in Silicon Valley, with one question: what if a person's knowledge could keep working when they are not there? In October 2023 we put the first public AI twin of Khaby Lame, the most-followed creator on TikTok, on stage. Today that technology is called Digital Twin.

The founding
It all started at Circuit Launch, in Silicon Valley.
In January 2020, at Circuit Launch, a startup space in Silicon Valley, Legathum was born from a conversation about artificial intelligence and human memory: how to preserve what a person knows, how they speak and how they decide.
That same year, Forbes Brasil published our first research.
- January 2020
- Founded at Circuit Launch, California
The science
The first to believe were UC Berkeley scientists.
In 2020 Alberto Todeschini, PhD, Distinguished Faculty in Artificial Intelligence at UC Berkeley, advised the founder at the start of the project and introduced him to Alice Hua and Tim Chen, scientists who contributed to developing the technology. These are their testimonials.

MemorAI
Digital memory becomes a product.
In 2021 Legathum acquired the commercial rights to MemorAI, a digital-memory project built by two data scientists during their master's at UC Berkeley. It was the first piece of the brain that now powers every twin.

Back in the Valley
We went back to Circuit Launch with the avatar studio up and running.
In June 2022 we returned to Circuit Launch with the Acelera no Vale programme. The founder showed Legathum's avatar studio to Brazilian entrepreneurs and taught them about digital humans, starting from Snow Crash, the 1992 novel that imagined the metaverse.

October 2023 · The Khaby Lame case
We put the world's biggest creator's AI twin on stage.
An AI twin that reproduced Khaby Lame's personality, speech and humour, presented live at Legathum's global launch in São Paulo. In 2023 digital twins were science fiction for most of the market. We had one on stage.

The capture
Khaby Lame inside the capture rig: several cameras record his image to build the twin.
The validation
Khaby Lame puts his twin to the test with its creator, Deibson Silva, in front of the international press. After a long question-and-answer session, the avatar impressed Khaby Lame himself.
The ambassador
On the launch stage, Khaby Lame tells his story as Legathum's ambassador.
The reveal
The AI twin speaks, in Italian, next to Khaby Lame and the founder. The audience films it on their phones.
Maracanã
In Rio de Janeiro, Khaby Lame leaves his handprints at the Maracanã stadium.

Hearing everyone’s story was so inspiring and humbling. Thanks @legathum2026 · The market catches up
Three years later, the digital twin became a category.
In January 2026 Khaby Lame's company announced an all-stock deal of up to US$975M built around his AI digital twin. The deal has since stalled: the buyer had the rights, but not the technology or the team to operate a twin. That is exactly what we built.

- US$4B
- Valuation of Synthesia, AI avatar video (January 2026)
- US$200M
- Annual revenue of HeyGen, AI avatar video (2026)
Legathum was not part of the 2026 deal. We cite it as a market signal, with the figures the parties published.

The founder
Deibson Silva: he has done it before.
Serial entrepreneur with AI expertise. He built and sold two companies in Brazil, created the NeuroMetaphysical Theory of Multidimensional Consciousness, designed the VACE behavioural model behind iPersonality and personally built Legathum's technology: memory and personality mapping, the knowledge engine, the live face and voice, and the Digital Twin.
